Hi, I'm Carl Ferebee
MEET CARL FEREBEE
I was born and raised in Moyock, NC. I attended Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, NC. My career started as a bank auditor with Wachovia for a few years in Greenville, NC. I arrived in Roanoke Rapids in 1979, public office wasn’t yet on my mind at this time. The seeds were, though. I had transferred to a position at the then-new Roanoke Rapids JC Penney following tenures with the brand’s Raleigh locations, where I worked managerially as a merchandise buyer. Retail was just a great opportunity to work with people, value their input and meet their demands, the same way I would later do in public office. A few years later, having developed interest in local matters like housing and jobs, I served on municipal committees and gaining admirers for my non-political sincerity. By 1989, I was selected for a seat on the city planning board that I kept until 1999 (serving as chairman in the last four). That’s when the city council member in his district stepped down, giving me a popularly backed and uncontested shot at an elected office, which I have held ever since. “I first ran for better housing, better jobs and economic development.” “My theme now is ‘continuing the challenge." I am currently employed as the Business Manager at Halifax Regional Medical Center and I have been employed there for 32 years. I have been married for 45 years and I have 2 adult children and 7 grandchildren.

Continuing to work with the City on jobs and economic development.
